Barryはアイルランドの茶商である。一度も行ったことがないアイルランド。でも魅力的に見えますねぇ。
250g入りの箱を10箱まとめて買って、飲み続けている。あと6箱残っている。結構なスピードで飲んでいる。しかしこの茶葉、日本ではあまり売れないだろうと思う。そう思う理由は、茶葉の形体と価格の関係からだ。
私は海外から通販でまとめ買いした。1箱あたりにすると1200円かかった。ところが日本の代理店からこれを買うと、1箱2500円する。2500円して、この葉の形体。CTC製法という。アフリカ産やインド産の葉をブレンドし、小さく切り刻み丸めた葉である。もし2500円出すなら、並行輸入品で有名各社の立派な形をしたダージリンやアッサムの茶葉が買える。そうであるとすると、やはり2500円出して、このCTC製法の葉を買う日本人は少数派であろう。一般には普通の大きな茶葉を、あれこれブレンドせずに箱に入れたものが好まれるだろう。
