Pro cycling bid for Loveland, Northern Colorado campaign grows

A regional consortium that includes Loveland has formed to spend more than $500,000 to land the 2013 U.S. Pro Cycling Challenge, the nation's premier bicycle race, in Northern Colorado next summer.

Organizers hope the event that draws more than 130 of the world's best racers will have the starting line in Loveland and six days of racing that end in Fort Collins, and raise the region's global profile and draw many thousands of spectators to the region.

Loveland's Community Marketing Commission last month voted unanimously to seek city councilors' commitment of $100,000 to the effort, all of it derived from the 3 percent tax on lodging bills that is designed to promote tourism.

Fort Collins has committed another $100,000, and financial commitments forthcoming from Estes Park and possibly Windsor could help ignite business support for the effort that will bring the half-million-dollar goal within reach.

"It's the largest race in the country," said Cindy Mackin, Loveland's coordinator of tourism services. "It would be the equivalent of bringing the Olympics to Northern Colorado."

When I initially tasted this tea, I wasn’t very impressed. You can read about it here Tea Journal: A Trip to Trader Joe’s

Before writing my review however, I thought it might be somewhat interesting to do my own taste comparison between Celestial Seasonings Nutcracker Sweet and the Trader Joe’s brand.

They are both flavored black teas with vanilla, cinnamon and other “natural flavors.” Accordingly, they both smell exactly the same.

A wonderful smell, by the way, that makes me think of sweet-yummy-things baking in the oven as the family sits round the kitchen table wrapping presents and listening to Christmas music.
